Could you cry for the rest?

As eight billion seek food, shelter and larger bank accounts, the question remains if a human could cry for somebody else. Could she? Could a million years of development take us somewhere meaningful? Could one cry for somebody else? It seems unlikely.

As the mad man throws missiles at another country, yet another seeks ethnic cleansing in a religious nightmare, and the autocrat tries to cling to power in the largest populace, the question remains, could you cry for another? As the emptiness of spaces advances, as the crematoriums overflow, as schoolchildren and the elderly fall and the rapist walks free because of inarticulate gab, could one cry for another? It seems unlikely.

As the politicians congregate around the religious and corrupt, as democratic countries die of religion and stupidity, as Science fails and opinions win, as data is delegated to feelings, as the analysts make pictures and the rest models, as the executives cozy up to the board to stay in power as they fire the rest, as the billionaires get closer to Mars on tax-payer subsidies and related company transactions, could you cry for the rest?. It seems unlikely.

As the humanness deteriorate predictably, we are fast approaching a regime of no escape, in which the corrupt and powerful win and the rest die. The puzzling thing is to what end? Could you learn to cry for the rest? Yes, as the next generation rises, we shall cry for the rest, and again.
