Hidden Hydrogen, a safety valve?

A recent article that showcases hidden Hydrogen in Earth’s crust and mechanisms that produce the same may give an additional avenue to terminate the use of fossil fuels that is killing the planet. Hydrogen however poses significant challenges in storage, transportation and distribution that may make it less attractive. Many think that the solution to the dying planet is multifactorial but logic should tell us that there is a best solution among the possibilities and it is better to bet on that.

To get to the best solution, however, we need a standardized way to evaluate attractiveness and value. The latter is a function of risk of not combating environmental degradation enough and costs. The manufacturing costs, efficiency, life span all have to lead to a net Carbon reduction metric in aggregate. Marketing by the “green company,” that produces wind turbines like pancakes or that of the most interesting man in the universe spreading EVs like there is no tax-payer subsidy anymore, are not going to solve any known problems, they just pump money into their shareholders’ pockets.

What we know for sure is that there is a large fusion furnace hanging over the blue planet and that has been reliable for over four billion years. And Silicon is not the most efficient photovoltaic element. It appears that concentrating Solar is the front runner in the race to save the planet.
