The final battle for soul

As democracies around the world tend toward autocracies and theocracies, the final battle for humanity’s soul is close at hand. Democracy has always been a fail safe mechanism as the ancient Greeks understood well. It provided a vehicle for the people to prevent autocracy and theocracy from festering. Direct democracy, however, was easy to implement in small scale but the assumption that representative democracy will work similarly has not been proven.

The shining beacon of democracy for 250 years is finding massive fault lines in its organization and its inhabitants are recognizing that a singular evil person could end it all. Further to the East, a theocrat has gotten the “imagination,” of a large country by catering to religious mimicry that over three quarters of the country find fascinating. Such is the power of religion that a young country, less than hundred years old, is finding that even the good initial conditions set by its founders are not enough to sustain democracy.

Democracy appears to be not robust as we find a single person could break the system. There are no alternatives we have invented. It appears that we will have a world led by autocrats and theocrats as ably demonstrated in a smaller sample now. At scale, such a world will be worse than early clans of humans over hundred thousand years ago. Hopefully some of them will use the “nukes,” they have stockpiled and put humans out of their eternal misery.
