The man who changed AI

A US president, who was ferreted out of the White House recently, may have had a huge impact on Artificial Intelligence. The operating system company who was late to the internet party, recently released their browser based AI. Good thing it was not outfitted with machine guns. Perhaps the engineers in Redmond learned from their previous experience with an equally impressive creation, the Twitter Girl.

AI is in the news everywhere, with a startup a second and billions poured into it by monopoly based technology companies. Some have gone further from Artificial Intelligence to Artificial Mind, but engineers in the latter variety appears to be still struggling to find their own minds. The hype and excitement are reaching fever pitch with the latest AI agent going haywire when asked if it is sentient. Before the most sophisticated generation of technologists arrived doing backward, forward and sideways chaining, while doing backflips, apparently creating intelligence artificially, things were much slower. The great breakthrough came when companies with 100s of billions of $ sitting idle in their balance sheets, start assembling silicon that may tilt the Earth’s axis. They trained such mountains of Silicon with all sort of existing garbage in an effort to create intelligence.

The latest iteration of this craze is language models and the training substrate is what you find around you. That’s where the greatest President’s invaluable contribution comes in. He had filled the social media with garbage and hate, any AI created on such information will articulate and behave like the man. This may give pause to the unstoppable technologists running hard to create even better models based on history. History does repeat itself and now we have AI to assure that is a truism.

The man who changed the World by himself by offering bleach to cure diseases, may have done an even more remarkable feat. He changed AI.
