The pretense of care
As the whole world pretend to care, it is clear that most do not. As 40 million people struggle to survive while the rest watch CNN while imbibing Cola and feeding on “freedom fries,” kids die. As the yogis chant incessantly to a plethora of Gods and the communists make sure appropriate amounts of bread and guns are produced, kids die. As the police of the world debate whether to send Migs or F16s, as the party guy in the irrelevant island picks himself up from yesterday’s headache, kids die.
Yes, kids die. It does not matter if you have the greatest fire power, know magic chants to get snakes up to dance or have an idea how to shove policy down everybody’s throat — not too many kids, not too much wealth and not much to eat. As half the world’s population struggle with autocrats, it is time to make a change.
Yes, kids have been dying because of bad policies and worse politicians. It is time to rise against the autocrats and the incompetent. In the West they wear blue and red shirts and in the East, saffron and white and when nobody is looking, black — and none of these fashion divas know anything. It is time to rise and take control.
It is time to make a change.
